Our Worship

We are heirs of an amazing, rich worship heritage!  We enjoy employing its treasures amongst us and freely sharing them with our community!   

The heart and center of Lutheran Worship is Jesus Christ. 

 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the  firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. 

(Colossians 1:18)

In worship, the Lord Himself, as a tender Shepherd, leads us to green pastures where we graze in safety on His Word.  In worship, God bestows on us the greatest treasures of forgiveness of sins, life and salvation, victory over death, enlightenment, guidance, and peace. 

For this reason, Lutherans describe our worship as a DIVINE SERVICE.  The Divine comes and serves us, and we respond.   

In our Divine Service, we employ liturgy to respond. 

God acts and speaks to His congregation and calls for our response.  We find our fullest, most complete and meaningful response when united in liturgy. 

We employ liturgy to teach. 

In liturgy the public preaching of the Word is effectively proliferated in every way. 

We employ liturgy to express fellowship...

...and to encourage, strengthen, and exhort one another. 

We employ liturgy because...

...it weaves us into the ageless tapestry of the continuous body of worshipers of the Living God, from the psalmody of the synagogue up to the present time. 

We employ liturgy because...

 ...in a culture of religious fads, liturgy's form grants comforting familiararity.
